I know that there is risk of damage in having a door there but I don’t like the look of an open strake pocket. I wanted mine to be closed. So I planned for something that would take as little space as possible away from the pocket, be lightweight, easy to operate (no lock) and a handle that would not interfere with my closing of the gull wing doors. So I glassed a piece of light 1/8” pressed board on both sides and made a cover for the hole to fit tight in the opening. I cut and hinged a door and hot-glued the fixed piece in place before glassing it.
